About RPD-U

The San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department is responsible for over 220 of the best parks and recreation centers in the nation. Given that we have locations all across San Francisco, we are a very geographically dispersed workforce. That’s where RPD-U comes into play!

“What if I spend all this time and money to train them and then they LEAVE?”

“What if you DON’T TRAIN them and they STAY”

The RPD-U Team wants all staff to have easy access to training resources and materials so that you can meet your training needs where you need to, when you need to. After all, the people that comprise this Department are, and always will be, our most important resource. This website is intended to connect staff to our training offerings, workforce programs, and a multitude of resources so that staff can take the initiative to develop themselves personally and professionally.

Rest assured that the RPD-U Team is taking an iterative approach to this website and in the future we will be improving and digitizing our various training processes and infrastructure. We are a multicultural team full of diverse personalities and beliefs and we are passionate about developing a highly-skilled workforce. We have made a long-term commitment to maintaining and improving this website. If you have any feedback on this website or our training processes, please contact Tiffany Soares, Sean Stasio, Thomas Borawski, Jeffrey Bramlett, Derek Chu, Taylor Emerson, Kin Gee, Eric Pawlowsky, or Alex Ramsey.

GM Message

GM, Phil Ginsburg

“RPD University is our commitment to giving our team the tools and training we need to grow professionally, to keep current with best practices and new thinking, and to remain innovative and responsive as we serve the public. RPD-U provides skill development for our workforce to succeed and opportunities for personal growth. When each of us is exposed to different thinking and new ideas, we gain competence, perspective, and judgment—so that all of us benefit. I hope these learning opportunities and programs inspire and connect us to our profession, to each other, and to the park users we serve.”
— General Manager Phil Ginsburg
